Past Papers

The past papers include model answers

The papers also include a ‘what people got wrong’ section.

As Exam 2 response says:

‘Whilst some failures were due to not spotting major problems with the output, poor question grades were much more likely to come from a non-specific defensive stance: “I don’t know, probably something wrong, I’ll ask the researcher to explain some more”….While caution is often justified as ‘better to be safe than sorry’, this has a cost – the time to review, the potential loss of relationship with the researcher (especially if the information was provided and you didn’t use it). This is why the responses are graded on how you respond to the researcher – to see if you are genuinely uncertain, or just hiding behind ‘better safe than sorry’ to avoid making a judgement.

From Exam 3:

‘We note that the majority of low scores come from blind application of rules, and failing to consider the context.’

Please note that some of the rules in these old papers may have changed, with the publication of the new manual.
